Commercial Driver (Non-CDL / DOT Driver)

Premier Office Movers is hiring a full-time Commercial Driver (Non-CDL / DOT Driver) in Columbus, Ohio. You'll operate our trucks between client sites and our warehouse, load and secure high-value office furniture and equipment, and represent Premier on site — then work as part of the crew once you arrive. Commercial driving experience is a plus, but a safe record and a commitment to safety matter most.

What you'll do

• Safely operate company vehicles while following all DOT regulations and traffic laws.
• Transport employees, office furniture, equipment, and customer assets to and from commercial job sites.
• Perform pre-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is safe and properly equipped.
• Review Bills of Lading (BOL) and verify job requirements before leaving the warehouse.
• Load and unload trucks using proper weight distribution and safe loading practices.
• Participate in commercial moving and installation activities as part of the crew.
• Maintain a clean, organized truck and complete required DOT documentation and driver logs when applicable.
• Report customer damage, safety concerns, and equipment issues immediately, with honesty and integrity.
• Assist with furniture placement, disassembly/reassembly, and other project needs.
• Occasionally lead a crew or serve as the in-charge person when assigned.

What we're looking for

Required

• Valid Ohio driver's license.
• Ability to meet all DOT regulations and maintain a complete Driver Qualification (DQ) file.
• Negative pre-employment drug screen.
• Safe driving record and a commitment to safety.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and customer service skills.

Preferred

• Experience operating commercial trucks.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and driver logs.
• Experience loading, securing, and transporting commercial furniture and equipment.

Education

High school diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

Previous commercial driving or moving experience is preferred but not required. Experience with DOT regulations, commercial moving, or operating straight trucks is a plus.

Working hours

• Full-time position.
• Schedule varies based on customer projects.
• Overtime is expected during busy periods.
• Evening and weekend work may be required.

Physical requirements

• Frequently stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, and lift throughout the workday.
• Regularly lift and carry up to 100 pounds, with team lifting for heavier items.
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Comfortable working around moving equipment and in moderate to high noise environments.

• Hourly pay, competitive with the industry and based on experience and licensing — our average hourly rate runs about 9% above the industry average.
